Marc Cucurella has followed through on his vow to get an image of manager Luis de la Fuente tattooed on his arm. The Spain defender made the commitment prior to the World Cup, stating he would get the ink if the squad emerged victorious. Following Spain’s 1-0 defeat of Argentina in the final held in New Jersey on July 19, the player shared the finished artwork on social media with the caption, “promise kept.”
The tattoo features De la Fuente dressed in a formal suit, holding the World Cup trophy. This marks Spain’s second title, following their initial championship win in South Africa in 2010. Fellow national team members and athletes, including Mikel Merino and Carlos Alcaraz, reacted positively to the reveal online.
Cucurella, aged 28, transferred to Real Madrid from Chelsea shortly before the tournament began. Under the leadership of 65-year-old De la Fuente, who took over from Luis Enrique in 2022, Spain has achieved significant success, including victories at Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League.
