Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has officially moved to Ajax on a loan agreement for the 2026/27 campaign. The Dutch organization confirmed the deal through an official announcement on Tuesday.
Now 34, the goalkeeper has served Barcelona since 2014, though recurring health struggles have sidelined him for significant portions of the previous two seasons. Joan Garcia currently holds the primary goalkeeping role in Barcelona, leading the club to send Ter Stegen to Girona earlier this year. His stint there was brief, ending prematurely in February due to a hamstring injury during his second match.
The German player did not receive a call-up for his national team’s World Cup roster. Despite his move, Ter Stegen remains under contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2028, having previously secured seven La Liga trophies and a Champions League title with the team.
