A 35-year-old man has been formally charged following the death of a nine-year-old girl at an industrial site in Arbroath. Authorities were alerted to the Elliot Industrial Estate shortly after midnight on Sunday, where the child, who was visiting from West Yorkshire, was discovered with serious injuries.
The girl was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee along with four others, but she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Police confirmed the suspect, who is identified as a white British man and was known to the victim, will appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Mike Ness of Police Scotland stated that investigators are not searching for any other individuals regarding the case. Specialist officers are currently providing assistance to the victim’s family, who had been camping in the vicinity when the tragedy occurred. A police cordon remains in place as the investigation proceeds.
