Man arraigned for destroying property at former partner’s residence

A 35-year-old man has been arraigned in a Lagos court for allegedly damaging N650,000 worth of property at his former girlfriend’s home.

A 35-year-old individual identified as Samuel appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos this Thursday. He faces allegations of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and destroying property valued at N650,000.

Samuel is charged with three offenses, specifically malicious damage, unlawful entry, and behavior likely to breach the peace. Prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere stated that the incident took place on July 16 at a residence located at No. 1, Segun Durojaye Close in Ikotun, Lagos.

The prosecution claims the defendant damaged three doors and three keys belonging to Oluwatoyin Olamide. These actions allegedly violate sections 157(e), 308(1), and 339 of the 2015 Criminal Law of Lagos State. Samuel entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.

Magistrate Lateef A. Owolabi set bail at N400,000, requiring two sureties of similar standing. The trial is scheduled to resume on August 25.
