Oruche Ogeamara Precious, a Nigerian activist and influencer widely recognized as Mama Pee, has issued a public warning to South African artist Tyla regarding her scheduled concert in Nigeria. This alert follows Tyla’s failure to publicly address the ongoing xenophobic violence and fatalities involving Nigerians in South Africa.
Reports indicate that a wave of anti-foreigner hostility emerged in South Africa in April 2026. Tensions have spiked significantly as footage of violent attacks against African nationals and the deaths of Nigerians has circulated widely. In light of this, Mama Pee criticized the inclusion of a Lagos stop on December 22 as part of Tyla’s APOP World Tour.
Addressing the singer on Instagram, Mama Pee questioned the appropriateness of Tyla performing in Nigeria while her own countrymen face lethal aggression at home. She described South Africa as a place of human hunting and demanded that the artist remain there rather than profiting from a Nigerian audience. She emphasized that Tyla’s silence regarding these injustices is unacceptable and urged her fellow citizens to boycott the event in solidarity with those suffering in South Africa.
