The House of Representatives investigative committee examining the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has announced plans to interview its Director-General, Aderemi Matthew Adeyemi, at a private, unannounced location. Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi stated this decision honors the separation of powers and avoids interfering with existing court orders or ongoing probes by the EFCC and ICPC.
During the public hearing, Gbenga Collins, the head of Divine Dopacy Nigeria Limited, testified that he was swindled out of N400 million. Collins explained that he met Adeyemi, who claimed leadership over both the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council. The businessman noted that the presence of security detail and official-looking vehicles convinced him the agency was legitimate.
Collins revealed that Adeyemi requested the N400 million payment under the guise of proving the firm’s financial capacity and accelerating the mobilization process for a contract to renovate his supposed official residence. Gagdi emphasized that the committee’s objective is to secure necessary answers from the suspect without jeopardizing concurrent investigations conducted by anti-graft agencies.
