A group of suspected gunmen launched an assault on the home of Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda, in Zamfara State. During the raid, which took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday, the attackers shot and killed the rector’s security guard, Isah Yankaba.
Dr. Yusuf managed to evade capture by climbing over the perimeter wall with his wife and daughter, though he suffered a leg injury in the process. Reports from local journalist Bakatsine indicate that the perpetrators continued their spree by raiding the Hayin Baguso area, where they seized the wife and daughter of a resident named Ibrahim.
While the attackers attempted to target the home of businessman Alhaji Salisu Azaria, they were thwarted by a rapid response from security forces. The group later abducted Dr. Namadina Hamza, a university lecturer, from the Low-Cost neighborhood before departing. Authorities from the Zamfara State Police Command have not yet released a formal statement regarding the series of events.
