The Labour Party has officially introduced Hajja Bintu Konto as the running mate for its 2027 presidential contender, Dr. Chibuzo Okereke. This selection was formally announced in a press release by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa.
According to the party, this choice resulted from thorough discussions with major stakeholders. The leadership emphasized that the ticket aims to provide the public with leaders defined by their integrity, patriotism, competence, and ability to serve the nation effectively.
Hajja Konto brings a strong background in healthcare to the ticket. She is a trained nurse, midwife, and public health specialist who possesses a Master’s degree in Public Health and has taught community health. Currently, she contributes to the Global Fund in Nigeria as a member of the Country Coordinating Mechanism and holds the position of National Treasurer for the Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN).
