Soldiers participating in Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD successfully eliminated four alleged kidnappers and liberated a hostage during a tactical ambush in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the event, noting that the mission commenced at 4:00 a.m. on July 22.
Personnel from Sector 1, stationed at the Kaiama Forward Operating Base, utilized precise intelligence to set a trap at a riverine crossing point near Jonloji Village. When the armed suspects arrived, a firefight broke out, resulting in the deaths of four members of the criminal group. In addition to securing the release of the victim, the troops seized a pump-action shotgun, four motorcycles, and 64,000 Naira in cash.
The rescued individual was transported to Kaiama General Hospital to receive medical care. This mission is part of a wider security initiative under Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, which seeks to dismantle criminal networks across Kwara and surrounding areas. Forces remain committed to proactive patrols to bolster safety and protect regional residents.
