Armed individuals suspected of kidnapping have captured two farmers within the Parubber area of the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area in Ondo State. The victims were seized while tending to their land and dragged into the nearby forest.
Pastor Yemi Omowale, a piggery owner who managed to flee the assault, stated that the assailants were armed with cutlasses and AK-47 rifles. Following the abduction, the captors reached out to the spouse of one victim, insisting on a ransom payment of N100 million for their safe return.
The community has notified both the police and the Amotekun Corps regarding the situation. Omowale noted that the kidnappers continue to contact the victims’ families to inquire about ransom progress. Local residents are calling for urgent government intervention to ensure the safe release of the hostages.
Jimoh Abayomi, the Ondo State Police spokesperson, confirmed that a collaborative effort is underway. A search team, which includes the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local hunters, and vigilante members, has been deployed to the area to locate the victims.
