Kebbi State High Court Justice abducted by gunmen

A Kebbi State High Court judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has been kidnapped by gunmen from his residence in the Bunza Local Government Area.

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court was kidnapped by armed men in the Bunza area on Sunday morning. According to reports, the judge was taken from his residence situated on Zogirma Road shortly after arriving home from a trip to Sokoto. During the raid, the attackers fired their weapons repeatedly but caused no physical injuries to those inside the property.

SP Bashir Usman, the spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police, verified the occurrence, noting that the incident transpired around midnight. In response, Commissioner of Police Umar Muhammad Hadejia has mobilized tactical units and intelligence officers to search local forests and other suspected hideouts to secure the judge’s release.

An anonymous senior official from the Kebbi State High Court expressed deep concern over the event, labeling it a distressing time for the legal community. Judicial leaders in the state are currently coordinating with security agencies to formulate an rescue strategy.
