The Kano State Police Command recently intercepted 160 stolen solar inverters valued at approximately N59.2 million. This operation followed an intelligence report from a community partner. CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police spokesperson, noted that officers from the Sharada Division and the Special Intervention Squad executed the successful recovery.
Acting on tips regarding a man selling equipment at suspiciously low rates, police arrested 43-year-old Abdullahi Isah on July 29. A subsequent search of an unfinished building in Haye Quarters led to the discovery of 160 6.5KW/48V inverters. Authorities have asked legitimate owners to contact the Sharada Police Division for verification while investigations continue.
In a separate enforcement action, police arrested three men linked to the theft of six fuel dispensing machines from a Jajire Filling Station in Gaya Local Government Area. The robbery occurred on July 25 when guards were incapacitated by armed intruders. The suspects—Bishir Abubakar, Shamsu Abdullahi, and Alhaji Shamsu Lawan—were detained on July 29. They confessed to purchasing the stolen machinery from an individual currently at large, Usman Ibrahim. Both groups of suspects will face court proceedings once investigations conclude.
