Kano NSCDC Detains Suspect Following Failed Tricycle Theft

A 27-year-old man was captured by local residents in Kano after attempting to steal a tricycle and was subsequently taken into custody by the NSCDC.

Authorities from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) apprehended a 27-year-old individual for a suspected robbery attempt involving a commercial tricycle on IBB Road in Kano.

Official reports released on Thursday identified the detainee as Nasiru Sulaiman, a resident of the Babura Local Government Area in Jigawa State. The NSCDC stated that Sulaiman reportedly used a trick to isolate the vehicle, sending the driver away on an errand. Once the driver left, the suspect attempted to disable the ignition to drive off with the tricycle.

Local citizens noticed the suspicious activity and intervened to stop the theft. The suspect was successfully detained by residents and subsequently transferred to NSCDC custody. The agency confirmed that their investigation is finished and preparations for legal prosecution are currently underway.
