Authorities in Jigawa State have taken four individuals into custody regarding the theft of aluminium roofing sheets from the Hadejia School of Nursing. Officials from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), specifically the Gandun Sarki Division, captured the group during a routine patrol aimed at safeguarding public infrastructure.
ASC Badruddeen Tijjani, the NSCDC spokesperson, reported that the arrests occurred near the school’s boundary. Security teams recovered 13 square metres of roofing material taken from an area currently undergoing renovations. The identified suspects are 31-year-old security guard Adamu Mohammed, 35-year-old carpenter Dan Inu Mohammed, 30-year-old tricycle driver Isma’ila Adamu, and 25-year-old apprentice Bashari Yahaya.
Tijjani noted that the inclusion of a staff security guard in the alleged theft exposed significant vulnerabilities in the nursing school’s protection protocols. Consequently, the NSCDC has advised the administration to bolster internal security. State Commandant Muhammad Ingawa affirmed the command’s commitment to stopping vandalism, warning that intelligence gathering and enforcement will intensify to ensure those undermining state assets face legal consequences.
