Iwobi Laments Poor Hotel Conditions Ahead Of Super Eagles’ World Cup Playoff

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has sparked online reactions after sharing a video revealing the poor state of the hotel accommodation provided for the Nigerian team in Morocco, ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup African play-off clash against Gabon.

In the clip, Iwobi reportedly showed cramped and poorly maintained rooms, sparking frustration among fans who criticised the recurring issue of inadequate player welfare in Nigerian football.

This is not the first time Nigerian teams have voiced displeasure over their living conditions during international outings. Earlier this year, Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade condemned the facilities provided by CAF at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, also hosted in Morocco.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to face Gabon on November 13 in their crucial World Cup playoff fixture as they fight to secure a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

As of press time, neither CAF nor the NFF has issued an official response to Iwobi’s video or the growing public backlash over the team’s accommodation situation.
