Effiong noted that his firm initially oversaw Jude Okoye’s defense, including bail applications, before a Senior Advocate of Nigeria assumed the role. He emphasized that Jude has not been found guilty of any crime and is protected by the constitutional presumption of innocence. He also clarified that bail conditions, such as travel document surrenders, are standard judicial procedures rather than indicators of wrongdoing.
The lawyer labeled Peter’s social media campaign inappropriate, specifically because Peter acts as the complainant in active court cases. Effiong claimed that Peter’s online narrative significantly conflicts with his sworn testimony given during cross-examination. Ultimately, Effiong urged the singer to present his evidence within the judicial system rather than attempting to settle the matter through public opinion.
