In preparation for the August 15 gubernatorial election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to start handing out Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) this Wednesday. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, confirmed that this initiative targets individuals who recently registered, transferred their details, sought replacements for damaged or lost cards, or updated their information during the latest Continuous Voter Registration process.
Distribution will take place across 332 registration centers from Wednesday, July 22, until Tuesday, July 28. Collection hours are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day, including weekends. Following this phase, the process will shift to INEC local government offices between July 29 and August 7, maintaining the same daily operating hours.
Babalola emphasized that collecting a PVC must be done in person, as proxy collection is illegal. She encouraged all registered voters to secure their cards before the deadline, noting that the PVC is mandatory for accreditation on election day. The commission remains focused on ensuring the upcoming Osun State election is fair, transparent, and credible.
