The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially handed over Certificates of Return to the successful candidates from the June 20, 2026, bye-elections. These electoral contests took place in Enugu, Rivers, Nasarawa, Kano, and Ondo states.
This update was shared by the commission on its official X account this Tuesday. May Agbamuche-Mbu, the Supervising National Commissioner for Rivers State, performed the ceremony on behalf of INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan.
Addressing the winners, Agbamuche-Mbu encouraged them to honor the trust placed in them by their voters. She emphasized that elected leaders hold a duty to focus on providing quality service and advocating for their constituents. Furthermore, INEC confirmed that additional certificates are scheduled to be provided to the winners of the Ekiti State gubernatorial race and the Zuru Constituency seat within the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
National Commissioners for the relevant areas handed the documents to the winners, officially certifying them as the verified victors of their respective polls.
