Political analyst Imran Wakili has asserted that President Bola Tinubu operates without accountability, suggesting the President could unilaterally dictate the 2027 election outcome without facing opposition. Through a post on X, Wakili highlighted several actions he identifies as constitutional violations.
Wakili pointed to the suspension of a sitting governor, the detention of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for 170 days for a bailable offense, and the alleged freezing of the Osun State government’s bank accounts. He argued that the President has faced no repercussions for these measures, despite potential contradictions with legal mandates.
The commentator further claimed that if the President sought to secure a third term, the National Assembly would likely approve the request. He criticized opposition lawmakers, labeling them as ineffective and unwilling to challenge the executive branch’s authority.
