Imo NDC Denies Owerri Meeting Disturbance

The Imo State chapter of the NDC has denied claims that their meeting in Owerri was attacked, stating that the event depicted in viral videos was not organized by the party.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Imo State has officially rejected claims that its members were attacked during a meeting in Owerri. Spokesperson Ayozie Uchechukwu clarified that reports featuring videos of a violent disruption are inaccurate, as the event in question was not an official NDC function.

The party emphasized that it follows strict protocols, including notifying security agencies, for all its gatherings to ensure the safety of its members. Key leaders, including Owerri Municipal Chairman Emeka Ihueze, Owerri Zonal Chairman Stanley Igbo, and State Chairman Reginald Uwakwe, confirmed they had no knowledge of or involvement in the event.

While the NDC criticized the violence and expressed sympathy for those injured, it urged the public and media to verify information through official channels. The party has called on security forces to investigate the incident and prosecute those responsible for the violence.
