Ibeju-Lekki Administration Shuts Down Bogije Dredging Site Following Major Flooding

Ibeju-Lekki Chairman Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has ordered the immediate shutdown of a dredging site in Bogije after heavy rains triggered severe flooding in local neighborhoods.

Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, has mandated the instant closure of a dredging operation in Bogije. This action follows intense rain that caused the site to overflow, leading to significant flooding throughout the area.

The council stated that the shutdown is essential to safeguard residents and their assets from escalating damage. Heavy rainfall across Lagos state caused the dredging site to breach its banks, resulting in water entering numerous homes and local businesses.

Footage of the flood damage surfaced on social media, prompting calls for government help. Olowa emphasized that the local authority is prioritizing the welfare of those impacted and is working on further strategies to mitigate the damage and prevent future occurrences. Officials have requested that citizens stay patient as emergency crews conduct assessments and cleanup operations.
