Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, visited the Maraban Jos residence of the late Ummulkhairi Usman Aliyu to offer his condolences. During his meeting with the victim’s husband, Malam Aliyu, and their relatives, the Governor offered prayers for the deceased and sought comfort for the grieving family.
Addressing the household, Governor Sani emphasized his administration’s determination to track down and prosecute all individuals linked to the tragedy. He stated that security forces are actively pursuing leads to ensure that no one involved evades legal consequences. Currently, 41 individuals have been formally charged with culpable homicide, while another 30 face charges related to unlawful assembly. While 17 initial suspects were released following clearance, investigators are still working to apprehend further individuals who were involved.
The Governor further warned that any law enforcement personnel found complicit in the incident would face strict legal penalties. Beyond the judicial process, he pledged that the Kaduna State Government would assume full responsibility for the welfare and schooling of Ummulkhairi’s children. This intervention serves as a tangible commitment to supporting the family during their period of loss.
