Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State executed a limited cabinet reorganization this Thursday, introducing four fresh commissioners as his term nears its final nine months. These additions address vacancies left by outgoing officials who resigned to chase political goals for the 2027 cycle, alongside two others who were dismissed.
The administration confirmed the new appointees as Madaki Ahmad Gololo, Bashir Yau, Bashir Adamu Rishi, and Baraya Ibrahim. During the swearing-in event at Government House, Mohammed explained that these roles serve to maintain regional representation within the executive council. He emphasized that the selections prioritize skill, experience, and dedication to state progress.
The new officials received clear instructions to align with existing government initiatives and work alongside civil service leaders. Mohammed cautioned them that their performance will be under public and government surveillance, demanding high standards of transparency and integrity throughout their tenure.
Portfolio assignments were also revealed: Gololo will lead Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives; Yau takes charge of Youth and Sports Development; Rishi heads Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; and Ibrahim manages Commerce, Industry and Investment. Additionally, the Governor shifted several existing cabinet members, including Adamu Babayo Gabarin, Abdul Hassan, and Muhammad Hamisu Shira, to new ministerial positions.
On behalf of the group, Baraya Ibrahim expressed gratitude to the Governor, committing to support the administration’s development goals. The ceremony concluded with the Governor reaffirming his dedication to the welfare of Bauchi residents as his administration nears its conclusion.
