Governor Aiyedatiwa reunites with APC Ondo leaders to resolve primary election conflicts

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has convened with APC leaders in Ondo State to mend internal rifts and secure support for the party’s future goals and President Tinubu’s 2027 bid.

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa gathered with the Governor’s Advisory Council and prominent All Progressives Congress members in Akure to address internal friction following the recent National Assembly primaries. The session, held at the Government House Banquet Hall, concluded with the attendees formally recognizing Aiyedatiwa as the primary leader of the APC within the state.

During the meeting, the participants committed to backing President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. A formal statement emphasized a dedication to restoring party harmony and maintaining the organization’s collective goals. Chief Pius Akinyelure, who chairs the GAC, described the gathering as a vital step in overcoming post-primary disputes, noting that democratic competition naturally involves differences that are best resolved through compromise and respectful dialogue.

Akinyelure challenged party officials to improve upon their 2023 electoral success, during which Ondo State provided one of the highest vote shares for President Tinubu nationwide. He also praised the current administration for its efforts in fostering stability.

Senator Ajayi Boroffice reaffirmed that the party stands behind the governor, identifying him as the central figure for the APC in Ondo. Additionally, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, the APC South-West Vice Chairman, confirmed that more than 30 influential leaders agreed to consolidate all support groups under Aiyedatiwa’s guidance. The leadership also requested that the national body maintain close communication with stakeholders in Ondo State regarding future political decisions.
