The Osun State government has declared Tuesday a non-working day for all public employees to facilitate the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). This initiative aims to prepare the workforce for the upcoming gubernatorial race and subsequent elections.
Governor Ademola Adeleke authorized this directive, which applies to civil servants, local government staff, employees of tertiary institutions, and other state-run establishments. Elder Ayanleye Aina, the Head of Service, issued a circular explaining that the move is intended to assist workers in completing their civic duties.
Official statements clarify that the government views voting as a vital democratic requirement and wants to eliminate work-related barriers to card collection. However, workers in essential sectors—specifically security and healthcare—are expected to organize internal schedules to ensure operations continue without pause.
Beyond the public sector, Governor Adeleke urged all registered citizens to visit collection centers promptly. He emphasized that obtaining a PVC is essential for participating in the electoral process, describing the card as a necessary tool for casting a ballot.
