Abdullahi Ganduje, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, has publicly stated that the presidential partnership between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso is destined to fail in Kano during the 2027 general elections. The pair, who shifted their political affiliation to the Nigeria Democratic Congress after failing to secure the African Democratic Congress ticket, currently lack the necessary influence according to Ganduje.
During a press briefing, Ganduje questioned the past achievements of both candidates. He argued that Peter Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State failed to produce significant results that would justify a national leadership role. Furthermore, he criticized Kwankwaso’s history in Kano, specifically noting his inability to secure consecutive terms as governor, unlike other recent leaders in the state.
In a rapid response, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement, rejected these assertions. He stated that Ganduje lacks the integrity required to comment on behalf of the Nigerian public. Tanko defended the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance as the only sustainable option for the upcoming election. He highlighted Kwankwaso’s educational initiatives and financial management in Kano as evidence of his effectiveness, while simultaneously questioning Ganduje’s own performance during his time in office.
