Gabby George Nearing Transfer from Manchester United to Brighton

Manchester United defender Gabby George is nearing a transfer to Brighton for a six-figure fee ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.

Manchester United defender Gabby George is set to join Brighton ahead of the upcoming Women’s Super League season. The 29-year-old, who signed with United in 2023, still has one year left on her contract after the club exercised an option clause earlier this year. Brighton will reportedly pay a fee in the six-figure range for the flexible player.

Seeking more consistent playing time, George will bolster Brighton’s developing team. During her tenure at Manchester United, she appeared in more than 50 matches and contributed to their 2024 Women’s FA Cup title. Before joining United, she spent time at Everton, where she emerged from their academy and made over 100 appearances. The three-time England international adds significant experience to a Brighton side that has already acquired players like Lia Walti and Emilie Joramo.

Brighton, which finished in seventh place last season, kicks off its campaign against Arsenal on September 6. Meanwhile, Manchester United is searching for a new manager following the departure of Marc Skinner by mutual consent.
