Friends and Fans Honor Dame Penelope Keith at Emotional Funeral

Colleagues and friends gathered at Guildford Cathedral to celebrate the life of Dame Penelope Keith, describing the funeral as a moving and beautiful tribute to the beloved actress.

The funeral service for Dame Penelope Keith, the celebrated actress known for her roles in The Good Life and To The Manor Born, has been described by attendees as a beautiful and fitting tribute. The 86-year-old performer passed away peacefully at her home on 29 June after a battle with cancer.

As her coffin made its way through her home town of Milford, Surrey, crowds gathered to pay their final respects. The procession concluded at Guildford Cathedral for a service that friends and colleagues remembered as both moving and joyous.

Gyles Brandreth, who attended the service, noted the blend of sorrow and celebration. He praised the late actress as a remarkably kind person with a deep devotion to her Surrey community. Sarah Cliff, a family friend, fondly recalled the actress as a fun, vibrant presence in her life. Another longtime associate, Doreen Walford, expressed her gratitude for being able to attend the ceremony, calling the experience truly amazing.
