FIFA leadership gathered in Rabat, Morocco, to address internal governance, communication gaps, and the fallout regarding the discarded FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) initiative. The session included President Gianni Infantino, Secretary General Mattias Grafström, and the Management Board.
First, the board members formally backed Infantino as the singular official elected by the 211 Member Associations, while Infantino reciprocated his trust in the administration’s execution of his strategic vision. Second, officials admitted that internal communication between leadership tiers requires significant improvement to become more efficient.
Third, FIFA aims to bolster governance and transparency to better manage future obstacles. Fourth, the organization officially withdrew the FFE proposal. They acknowledged critical errors in the rollout, specifically citing that the Council and Member Associations felt excluded, and confirmed that an apology was issued to these groups to ensure such missteps are avoided in the future.
Finally, FIFA reiterated its dedication to the original FIFA Forward programme, which supports member associations and confederations. The organization maintains that while mistakes were made with the FFE, all procedural actions remained within their regulatory framework. They will now focus on the legacy of the 2026 World Cup while performing an internal review to restore institutional trust.
