Five Decomposed Bodies Discovered Near Abuja Border Community
Residents of Garam, a community in Niger State bordering the FCT, were thrown into shock after five decomposing bodies were discovered in a nearby bush.
The grim discovery was made on November 22, 2025, near a farm along the Bwari–Abuja–Kaduna bypass road, close to the Kagarko axis. Locals said the victims, all male were found with their faces tied, riddled with gunshot wounds, and bearing deep machete cuts.
According to Tanko Dikko, secretary of the community’s youth group, an elderly farmer had detected a foul smell while working on his beans farm and traced it to the bodies. Authorities were alerted immediately.
Police officers and officials of the Tafa Local Government social welfare unit visited the scene, after which the bodies were given a mass burial. Dikko noted that the men were dressed in regular English clothing, with some wearing only singlets. A flat Android phone found on one of the bodies was taken by police as evidence.
Another resident, Isah Sumaila, recounted seeing two vehicles enter the bush near a police checkpoint days earlier. Shortly after, he and others heard gunshots though the identities of those involved remain unknown. He added that past rumours had linked the area to secret executions, though such stories had long faded.
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun said operatives found the bodies with blindfolds and multiple wounds and have opened a full investigation. The command is now working to identify the perpetrators, with the recovered phone expected to aid the probe.
The disturbing discovery has left the community uneasy as investigations continue.
