FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has instructed the Department of Development Control to clear an unauthorized settlement located near Karon-Majigi in the Kukwaba District of Abuja. This decision was reached following an FCT Security Committee session on Friday, where Wike identified the area as a hub for criminal activity. He emphasized that the settlement serves as a sanctuary for individuals responsible for attacks throughout the capital and described the location as a ticking time bomb that cannot be tolerated. The minister has tasked the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, to coordinate with development authorities to ensure the demolition is carried out.
During the same visit, Minister Wike inspected the Arterial Road SI project near the FCT Fire Service Station in Kaura District. He praised the successful completion of the bridge component, which was under construction during his previous inspection. Wike has now pushed the contractor to extend the road project to connect with Oladipo Diya Way in Gaduwa District. Although the firm is targeting a December completion date for the current project, it remains uncertain if the requested extension fits into that timeframe. Wike promised that the FCT Administration would prioritize payments to maintain progress, highlighting that such infrastructure is essential for boosting local real estate and creating jobs.
