The spouse and child of a former ISWAP finance leader have handed themselves over to Operation HADIN KAI forces in Borno State. Aisha Musa, age 27, and her 11-year-old son surrendered to the 3 Battalion at Kusuma Village on July 29.
Reports indicate the woman acted on instructions from her husband, a key financier for the group in the Jubillaram enclave. After he surrendered to the military on July 25, 2026, he urged his family to flee the area as well.
Upon their arrival, military personnel conducted standard screening and searches. The pair is currently held by the 24 Task Force Brigade before being transferred to the 7 Division headquarters for deeper questioning and processing. This event follows a trend of defections as ongoing military campaigns continue to weaken insurgent positions in the North-East.
Military officials report that while the area remains tense, troops maintain high spirits and continue their active combat missions.
