A coalition of 14 political parties in Osun State has formed a new nine-member executive committee for a faction of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). This leadership group was established via affirmation during a meeting held on Monday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Tosin Odeyemi, representing the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), was selected as the factional chairman. He is joined by Deputy Chairman Prof. Adigun Adepeju of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Secretary Araoye Kazeem from the Action Alliance (AAC). Additional officers include Publicity Secretary Adesuyi Olufemi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Treasurer Mustapha Muideen of the Labour Party (LP), and Organising Secretary Dr. Gbenga Afeni of the National Rescue Movement (NRM). Waheed Adediran of the All Progressives Congress (APC) serves as Legal Adviser, while Tayo Adeyemi and Adebayo Olasunkanmi fill the roles of Financial Secretary and Deputy Secretary, respectively.
Odeyemi stated that 16 of the 22 registered parties in the state participated in this initiative to address a leadership vacuum he believes the national IPAC failed to resolve. He expressed concerns regarding the representation of political parties as the gubernatorial election nears. The formation of this faction comes amid ongoing tensions, as some parties previously rejected a caretaker committee led by Odesola Oluseye Titus of the All Peoples Party (APP). Despite these internal divisions, the Odesola-led committee continues to advocate for unity and electoral integrity among the state’s political stakeholders.
