The Eze Ndigbo of Ibadan and Yorubaland, James Oramadike, has extended his condolences to Governor Seyi Makinde, the people of Ibadan, and the royal family of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on Monday at the age of 90.

In a statement from Ibadan on Wednesday, Oramadike described the late monarch as “a symbol of unity and strength” whose wisdom and leadership will be sorely missed. He prayed for strength and comfort for the royal family and all Ibadan indigenes.

Commending Ibadan’s peaceful rotational ascension system between the Otun Line and Balogun Line, he noted that Oba Rashidi Ladoja, being the most senior king on the Otun Line, is next in line for the throne.

He urged other traditional kingdoms across Nigeria to adopt similar frameworks to avoid disputes during successions, saying: “The Ibadan model is exemplary and worth emulating.”

Oramadike also acknowledged Ladoja’s positive engagement with the Igbo community during his tenure as governor, assuring continued “support and cooperation” from the Igbo community for the peace and progress of Ibadanland.
