Eze Chikamnayo Accuses President Tinubu of Targeting Opposition Parties

Nigeria Democratic Congress leader Eze Chikamnayo claims President Tinubu is conducting a targeted campaign against opposition parties, warning that democratic suppression invites instability.

Eze Chikamnayo, a prominent member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is actively working to dismantle opposition groups. Chikamnayo shared these concerns during a broadcast interview on Arise Television this past Monday.

The criticism stems from a recent Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that invalidated the registration of the NDC. Chikamnayo labeled this judicial decision as both scandalous and a significant threat to the political landscape.

Directing his comments toward the president, Chikamnayo urged him to cease interference with opposition entities. He warned that suppressing the democratic process could result in instability, stating that if peaceful political transitions become unachievable, abrupt and potentially violent alternatives may follow.

This legal setback follows a previous directive from the same court that had instructed the Independent National Electoral Commission to grant the NDC official status as a political party.
