Ex-Bauchi SSG Ibrahim Kashim Quits PDP, Hints at Future Political Ambitions

Ibrahim Kashim, the former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His resignation letter, released on Monday, did not provide specific reasons for his departure from the party.

In the letter, Kashim expressed appreciation to his ward’s leadership for the opportunity to serve as a PDP member, which led to his nomination as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 elections. However, months before the polls, he stepped aside for Governor Bala Mohammed, who was then pursuing the party’s presidential ticket.

During the campaign period, Kashim said he worked closely with Governor Mohammed, touring Bauchi Local Government to rally support. While still SSG, he said he played a key role in securing victory for the governor, overcoming historical challenges often faced by second-term candidates in the region.

“Despite these efforts, I have decided after careful reflection to resign my membership from the PDP with immediate effect,” Kashim stated. He added that he intends to explore new political opportunities to continue serving the public with dedication, integrity, and reverence for God.

It’s worth noting that Kashim had earlier resigned from his government role in January 2025, following instructions from Governor Bala Mohammed.
