Enugu Catholic Diocese Denies Hosting Political Rally for Tinubu and Mbah

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has officially canceled a planned political rally for President Tinubu and Governor Mbah at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, citing a strict policy against using church facilities for partisan activities.

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has officially distanced itself from a scheduled political rally aimed at endorsing President Bola Tinubu and Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah. The event, which was promoted to take place at the Jubilee Hall of the Holy Ghost Cathedral, will not be permitted to proceed.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Director of Communications, Rev. Fr. Anthony Aneke, clarified that the church strictly prohibits the utilization of its facilities, including parishes and halls, for partisan political functions or endorsement ceremonies. The church underscored that the event, previously advertised for July 3, 2026, does not align with its operational policies.

The Diocese formally stated that the Jubilee Hall will remain unavailable for such gatherings. Furthermore, church leadership expressed regret for any confusion generated by the unauthorized announcement and requested that the public dismiss any suggestion that the institution has granted approval for the rally.
