An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court has withdrawn the bail previously extended to Abimbola Jumoke Olawumi, an APC governorship candidate. Olawumi faces accusations of blackmail, cyberbullying, and issuing death threats toward Yemisi Joluwe, the CEO of YSJ Limited.
First charged on July 23, 2026, Olawumi entered a not-guilty plea and was initially released on her own recognizance. Her lawyer, Ayokunle Odunayo Okunade, informed the court that his client was absent due to medical issues.
Police prosecutor Samson Osobu challenged this claim, asserting that the defendant’s absence was inexcusable. He presented evidence that Olawumi remained active on social media platforms on July 26 and 27, where she allegedly persisted in threatening and harassing the complainant along with various notable figures in Ekiti State.
Osobu characterized her actions as a clear violation of the court’s bail terms and requested an arrest warrant. Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun voiced his frustration, emphasizing that defendants must adhere to the conditions of their release. Consequently, the magistrate revoked the bail, ordered her arrest, and rescheduled the hearing for August 17, 2026.
