The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially promoted 73 staff members within its Edo State Command. This move recognizes the dedication, hard work, and service excellence displayed by these personnel. Dr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, the Edo State Commander of Narcotics, oversaw the decoration ceremony in Benin City, confirming that the group includes 52 men and 21 women.
The promotion breakdown covers a wide range of ranks. Notable advancements include three officers moving to the rank of Commander of Narcotics and five to Deputy Commander of Narcotics. Various other supervisors and agents were also advanced to higher administrative and operational positions, including the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Owasonsanoye Ibiso Tubokomba, who moved to Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I.
Ofoyeju attributed this progress to the annual promotion policy championed by the agency’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Buba Marwa. He noted that these advancements have improved operational efficiency and morale across the board. The Commander emphasized that promotions within the agency are earned through merit rather than being automatic, reflecting a commitment to integrity and the fight against drug-related offenses.
Addressing the officers, the Commander urged them to uphold strict standards of discipline and transparency. He also expressed gratitude to the families of the officers, noting that their support is essential during the demanding work of combating drug trafficking. The event serves as a testament to the agency’s broader mission of safeguarding communities from the dangers of drug abuse.
