Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has implemented a strategic adjustment to his cabinet. This move includes the reassignment of Professor Omorodion Ikponmwosa, formerly the Commissioner for Livestock Development, to the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
Professor Ikponmwosa had previously faced suspension on July 19, 2026, alongside Mrs. Ikpikhumi Betsy Aghaku, the State Project Coordinator for the LPRES project. Officials cited an unspecified official infraction as the reason for the disciplinary action, though further details were never disclosed. The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, announced that the reshuffle involves both newly appointed and existing commissioners, aiming to bolster administrative efficiency.
New appointees include Mr. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery for the Ministry of Mining and Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli for the newly established Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations. This new department was created to foster harmony and leverage the state’s diversity for development.
Additional reassignments include Mr. Ohimai Ehijimetor moving to Livestock Development and Mr. Andrew Momodu taking over the Ministry of Communications. Governor Okpebholo stated that these changes are effective immediately and expects his cabinet members to work with heightened professionalism to improve public service delivery.
