De Klerk secures thrilling win for London Spirit against Trent Rockets

Nadine de Klerk’s unbeaten 41 helped London Spirit edge past the Trent Rockets in a close Hundred encounter at Trent Bridge.

London Spirit claimed a narrow five-wicket victory over the Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge, thanks to a calm finish by Nadine de Klerk. Chasing a target of 143, the Spirit initially struggled after sliding to 67-4, despite a brisk start from Grace Harris, who hit 37 off 20 balls.

De Klerk and Marie Kelly turned the momentum, putting together a vital 63-run partnership off 37 balls. Although Kelly took time to settle, she eventually accelerated to finish with 39 from 26 deliveries. De Klerk, showing her expertise as a finisher, struck two sixes in the closing overs to finish unbeaten on 41 from 22 balls, securing the win with three balls remaining.

Earlier, Marizanne Kapp provided a stellar bowling performance for London Spirit, taking 3-12 to restrict the Rockets early. Ash Gardner scored 34 and Bess Heath added 31 to help the Trent Rockets reach 142-7, while Charlie Dean also contributed effectively with figures of 2-18. Both teams currently hold one win from two matches, though the Rockets maintain a higher position in the table due to a superior net run-rate.
