Works Minister Dave Umahi claims that President Bola Tinubu has successfully transformed every state across Nigeria into a hub for infrastructure development. This statement was made in response to individuals critiquing the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project during the commencement of repairs on the Eko and Marine bridges, as well as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Umahi challenged critics to identify any state lacking active construction projects. He argued that opposition to the Coastal Highway stems from a desire to prevent the Niger Delta region from reaping the rewards of major infrastructure investments. According to the minister, progress is steady; Lot 1 is finished, while Lot 2 has surpassed 80 percent completion. Significant work is also underway in Ondo, Akwa Ibom, and Ogun states.
While construction in sections like Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, and Edo remains in the procurement phase, Umahi maintains that the administration is accomplishing feats once considered impossible. He attributed the president’s success to divine intervention and strong leadership, pointing to the Eko Atlantic project as a historical example of ambitious engineering that successfully reclaimed land from the sea.
