A laborer was successfully rescued following the collapse of a wall at a demolition site in Kofar Mata Zango, located within the Kano Municipal Local Government Area, this past Sunday.
Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the event in an official report. The agency was alerted to the emergency at 8:49 am by Naziru Ahmad, who reported the accident.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found that a 30 by 20-foot residential property was in the process of being torn down. The structure lost its structural integrity while crews were working on the perimeter fencing. Sadiq Ahmad, a worker on-site, was trapped when he tripped and fell while attempting to move away from the falling debris.
Emergency teams managed to extract the man alive shortly after their arrival. He was transported to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for medical care and reunited with his brother. Authorities are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the collapse, and the Fire Service has issued a reminder to the public to strictly follow safety protocols during building projects.
