Javier Hernandez, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker known as Chicharito, recently addressed the widespread belief that Cristiano Ronaldo is arrogant. Although Hernandez arrived at Old Trafford shortly after the Portuguese star departed for Spain, the two eventually became teammates while Hernandez was on loan at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2014.
Hernandez rejected the label of arrogance during a conversation on Rio Ferdinand Presents. Instead, he described the 41-year-old as an athlete driven by a relentless need to defy doubters and achieve greatness. According to the Mexican forward, Ronaldo’s confidence is simply a byproduct of his intense focus on maintaining peak performance at all times.
Hernandez explained that Ronaldo does not have an off switch when it comes to his career. When asked about his achievements or his standing in the sport, the Al-Nassr player provides honest answers, which some mistake for ego. Since his 2009 move to Real Madrid, Ronaldo has cemented his legacy by scoring 451 goals in 438 appearances and winning four Champions League titles.
