Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has expressed confidence that Nigeria will rebound during the upcoming 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup play-off against South Africa this Thursday. This commitment follows the team’s failure to secure an automatic tournament bid after a narrow 1-0 loss to Cameroon in the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final last Sunday.
The Super Falcons now look toward the clash with South Africa as a critical path to an inter-confederation qualifier in November, keeping their hopes alive for reaching the global tournament. Nnadozie noted in a statement to the BBC World Service that while the recent defeat was difficult, the squad must remain focused and resilient.
She emphasized that the team intends to perform at a higher level than they did against Cameroon. According to Nnadozie, the players are determined to correct their previous mistakes and successfully navigate the remaining qualification stages.
