Daniel Bwala, who serves as the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, recently dismissed his earlier public criticisms of the president. During an appearance on the Channels Television program Politics Today, Bwala argued that his past remarks are no longer meaningful in the current political climate.
When questioned repeatedly by anchor Seun Okinbaloye about his history of statements against Tinubu, Bwala expressed frustration, suggesting that the focus should shift toward pressing national issues. He insisted that the media should prioritize governance topics, such as the economy, education, and security, rather than dwelling on his previous political commentary.
Bwala defended the current administration’s record, particularly emphasizing improved cooperation among Nigeria’s various security agencies. He noted that this level of collaboration is historic for the nation. Regarding his previous critiques, he clarified that while they were not intentionally dishonest, he now views them as having no weight or importance to the current national dialogue.
Furthermore, Bwala accused the interviewer of adopting the agenda of the political opposition. He pointed to figures like Peter Obi, whose political affiliations have shifted multiple times, as examples of subjects who do not face the same degree of scrutiny from the media. He concluded by urging the public and the press to focus on the tangible policies and challenges facing Nigerian citizens instead of revisiting old rhetoric.
