BREAKING: Tinubu Submits N1.481 Trillion Rivers State 2025 Budget To NASS
President Bola Tinubu has sent a request to the National Assembly for the consideration and approval of the Rivers State Government’s 2025 budget.
Tinubu stated that the N1.481 trillion budget is being presented to the National Assembly due to the Supreme Court’s nullification of the state’s 2025 budget and the ongoing emergency rule in the state.
The Rivers State Assembly has not been in session since the state of emergency was declared on March 18, 2025. The President also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, for six months.
All elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were suspended, and Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) was appointed as Sole Administrator.
In line with the 1999 Constitution as amended, the National Assembly has assumed the legislative functions of the State Assembly.
In his letter to the National Assembly, Tinubu noted that N324 billion of the budget will be allocated to infrastructure, N166 billion to health, N75.6 billion to education, and N31.4 billion to agriculture.
He added that the agriculture sector is expected to create about 6,000 jobs under this budget.
The President appealed to the lawmakers to urgently approve the budget for the benefit of Rivers State.
