Benue State Launches Infrastructure Overhaul to Enhance Makurdi Water Access

The Benue State Water Board has initiated a significant repair project for key water pipelines throughout Makurdi to increase the reliability of supply for local residents.

Supported by Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the project aims to fix broken service lines and mains. These repairs are designed to minimize water waste, increase pressure, and provide stable distribution to homes.

General Manager Titus Aondoaseer Umande praised the administration for focusing on vital utilities that benefit the community daily.

The Board reports that households in several neighborhoods now experience more reliable water access, including:

  • Lobi Quarters
  • Kwararafa Quarters
  • Township
  • High Level
  • Old GRA
  • Clerks Quarters
  • Mission Ward
  • Ankpa Ward
  • Angwan-Jukun

Officials have requested that residents in these zones pay their overdue water bills to ensure the continued maintenance of the system. Additionally, the public is encouraged to report any pipe bursts or vandalism to help staff repair issues quickly and prevent water loss.

While construction causes temporary disruptions, the Water Board stated that all affected regions will be addressed soon. The agency thanked residents for their patience as they work to upgrade utility services.
