Residents of Benue State have declared their intention to back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election, citing his administration’s focus on essential infrastructure such as roads and bridges. This sentiment emerged during a visit by the Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, who toured several federal and state-led construction sites across the region.
Led by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the delegation reviewed progress on the Buruku-Logo Bridge, the Wurukum Overhead Bridge in Makurdi, and the Makurdi–Gboko Road. Onanuga emphasized that these projects prove the federal government is effectively utilizing loans to improve national connectivity and economic integration. The Buruku-Logo Bridge, in particular, is expected to bridge gaps between Benue, Taraba, and Adamawa states, facilitating better trade for farmers.
Local citizens welcomed the developments, noting that infrastructure like the Buruku-Logo Bridge will reduce dangerous river crossings and boost the regional economy. Additionally, the construction provides immediate employment for local residents.
Benue State Deputy Governor, Dr. Samuel Ode, praised the federal government for its responsiveness to the state’s needs. He highlighted that the Wurukum Overhead Bridge was fast-tracked following a request from Governor Hyacinth Alia to address chronic traffic congestion on a key transit route connecting northern and southern Nigeria. With construction moving rapidly, local officials and residents expressed optimism that these projects will secure long-term public support for the current administration.
