Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, recently remarked that President Bola Tinubu possessed a kind and attentive nature prior to his inauguration. During an interview on Symfoni TV, Lawal stated that Tinubu was once a helpful leader who actively sought solutions to problems brought before him.
However, Lawal alleges that Tinubu transformed after moving to Abuja in 2022 to pursue his presidential bid. According to Lawal, northern associates who surrounded the president at that time isolated him and introduced him to religious extremists. Lawal believes these new influences caused the president to lose his former positive qualities. He further claimed that while Tinubu is naturally generous and strategic, his current administration appears to prioritize the interests of those around him, leading to a loss of the direct control and compassion he once exhibited. Lawal expressed a hope that the president would return to his previous disposition for the sake of the country.
